A Message from Cheryl Klass, RN, Nursing Sponsor, Executive Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive, Kaleida Health, and Peter Winkelstein, MD, MBA, Physician Sponsor, Vice President and Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Kaleida Health
The Countdown is On: Phase 1 Nursing and Provider Optimization Initiatives Go Live on February 26
Optimization of Nursing and Provider Documentation within the Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) is scheduled to “go live” on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
Optimization of the EMR focuses on making measurable, data-driven configuration changes to improve the current EMR environment. Our goal is to enhance the experience for providers, nurses and other staff members who use the existing EMR at Kaleida Health hospitals and clinics. This effort involves adding new programs, modules and hardware to the existing EMR environment.
The goal of the EMR Nursing Documentation Optimization is for nurses to spend less time in front of a computer screen and more time with their patients by making measurable, data-driven configuration changes to improve the current EMR environment.
Our Continuous Advancement Provider Documentation Optimization project is a multi-phased, multi-year, specialty-specific approach to improve how EMR data is displayed and to improve workflows.
Please be advised that a two-hour classroom training session is mandatory for identified providers. Please check your email for details on signing up for training if you are one of the following specialties: primary care (internal/family medicine), hospitalists, general pediatrics, cardiology, general surgery and adult/pediatric endocrinology.
Look for more information by email in the coming month. Soon you will receive:
• a summary of the workflow changes that are coming and some of the benefits to end users
• information about training that may be required in order to take full advantage of these upgrades
• associated user manuals and helpful hints for integrating the changes into your workflow
• specific instructions for the day we go live, including resources available before, during and after the transition
